Marshall Tire Group first opened its doors on April 1, 1988, by Lee Marshall and 5 other tire industry veterans, combining over 50 years of experience into the company. Over 30 years later we are still going strong and pride ourselves on our expertise of all tire applications. Our shop and road service staff all have been trained in-house to our standards. New employees are put through OSHA (29CFR1910.177) training as well as the Tire Industry Association (TIA) Commercial Tire Service (CTS) BASIC level course. All employees eventually take the complete Technician class and test to become certified. Getting trained in the TIA Automotive, Earthmover, Industrial, and Farm/AG Basic programs is a goal for all employees.
Lee managed the South Burlington and Middlebury locations simultaneously for Reilly Tire Corporation until he had a dispute with ownership which forced him to leave (taking multiple employees with him) and become direct competition to Reilly Tire. Before Reilly Tire, Lee managed the Burlington location for Noyes Tire. Lee has always taken a hands-on approach to the tire business. There have been many times when customers would see Lee himself arrive on a job site with a boom truck to do the job.
Paul came with Lee from Reilly Tire as one of the original "suicide six." Paul has been our primary salesman since opening in 1988. As others have left, Paul has taken on more and more of the customer base, visiting many customers on a weekly basis. Along with keeping up with his sales duties, Paul oversees daily delivery routes and road service, as well as other accounting and bookkeeping duties.
Jason rejoined the staff full-time in November, 1999. (Previously working summers during high school.) He was brought on as a service manager for the shop, but within a year was moved into a road service position. Throughout the years he has moved up still into giant earthmover tire service. “Retiring” from daily boom truck operation in 2008, Jason took over control of daily operations of the company, including Safety, Training, Human Resources, Compliance, IT, Receiving, and a large portion of the bookkeeping. From 2012 to 2017, Jason had been working with the Tire Industry Association as a part-time instructor for Automotive Tire Service and Commercial Tire Service, traveling the US & Canada several weeks a year teaching at the Instructor Level (Train-the-Trainer). He finished that adventure shortly after becoming an owner. Jason is still a Certified Instructor and is available to help you with TIA trainings or tire related safety meetings.
Ben returned to MTG in early 2013 as a Service Technician, where he quickly moved up to the Shop Supervisor and shortly thereafter the Service Manager. Ben currently has a much more active role in Inside Sales and Customer Service. Ben is the one to most likely to answer the phone when you call the shop. He also oversees the service schedule and uses his mechanical and tire experience to help service technicians troubleshoot when issues arise.
Edward began his long and lustrous career with Marshall Tire Group in the winter of 2005. Ed began as a service technician and worked up to helping on and running an OTR boom truck. Ed moved into a Route Driver position, putting him on the road for pick-ups and deliveries several hours a week. When not on the delivery truck, Ed works in the shop, overseeing that the work for his route customers gets done correctly as well and performing normal Service Technician responsibilities and occasionally will hop is a boom truck to clear some back-log. Ed works on OTR Section Repairs whenever he’s not on the road.
Kyle was hired in April of 2013 as a Service Technician. With Kyle’s CDL background, he quickly moved into operating our largest boom truck. Learning along the way, Kyle has become an excellent OTR tech, able to service everything from a 4.10/3.50-4 to a 45/65R45. Kyle is routinely dispatched across Northern New England to help our customers with their tire-related out-of-service equipment. He is also charged with maintaining his tandem axle boom truck and the equipment he carries with it.
Corey started with MTG in February of 2018. Corey had a mechanical background from life and from a tech school. He began his career as a Service Technician in the shop, quickly moving into PM services and alignments. Corey showed a lot of interested in operating a service truck and eventually moved into that position. Corey currently has a CDL permit and has been working with Kyle (even getting to drive) to become a backup operator of our large OTR Truck. Corey routinely operates our medium and small service trucks, helping our customers when their equipment goes down.
